Reverb Nation’s Band Equity

This is the algorithm that RN uses to calculate a band equity score, and ultimately rank your Reverb Nation profile in the charts.  It basically takes a number of signals and data – primarily your relationships and current engagement from your fans – to figure out how you should be placed in relation to every other musician in your area.

Your band equity score is calculated based from four primary categories:

  1. Reach
  2. Influence
  3. Access
  4. Recency

So How Did I Jump to #1 in the Reverb Nation Charts?

What I did is I logged into my Reverb Nation back office and went through the process to “Improve My Rank” on the main dashboard.

I then followed the step-by-step process – linking and authorizing my social media accounts, website and blog. Once completed, this gave Reverb Nation access to see all of my current fan base, followers and engagement from my Twitter, YouTube, Facebook, etc.  Based off the signals from my social profiles, it factored heavily into the band equity algorithm calculating a higher score for me. These changes alone  sky-rocketed me up to number one!

Summary

All in all, this extra exposure in the Reverb Nation charts allows me to expedite the growth of my fan base every day. And I generate more leads, sales and continue to grow my music business as a result.  So if you haven’t already, make sure to make these simple updates made. Get those social profiles imported… and I’ll see you in the charts! 🙂
